Introduction to Rug Tufting
Rug tufting is a craft to create your very own custom rug. Picture a rug in an entryway or in a restroom. You can make any design of your choosing. A rug tufting gun punches yarn into a fabric base to stitch your design. It's similar to a handheld sewing machine that uses yarn in place of thread.
Who can attend?
This craft is great for anyone over the age of 12, depending on the maturity of the child, with adult supervision. Holding the gun up and standing up for extended periods is the biggest obstacle. Otherwise, it's a great craft for all ages!
How long does it take?
Making a 24" x 24" rug takes approximately 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the design.
What do you need to bring?
Bring a photo of the design you would like to make, and an eager attitude to get started. ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT ARE INCLUDED!
What happens at the workshop?
A frame is secured to a table, with a projector used to sketch out the design (20 minutes). After instruction, the participants can practice tufting on a spare canvas to become familiar with the process (10 min). Then the bulk of the time is tufting the design (~1 - 3 hrs). Once completed, the rug is cut from the fabric, and a felt backing is applied (10 min). Lastly, the tufts are evened out with clippers (5-10 min). Afterwards, everyone goes home happy with their handmade rug!
The workshop can be set up with each participant making their own rug, or with 2 people working together on a rug to share. The latter option may be preferred for parents with children depending on the age. Children younger than 12 can attend, but a parent must be working with them at all times.

Shop policies:
We require your name, email address, and phone number for all class registrations. This is to ensure that we can contact you regarding essential class communication.
Shop Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to the minimum number of students not being met, illness, or emergencies. Any refunds will be issued as store credit. In the event of a class rescheduling or cancellation, the communication will be sent via email. Please be sure to check your email prior to class. Providing your phone number in addition to email will ensure that we can reach you in the event of an emergency or short-notice communication. If we do not have a way to get in touch with you and must cancel a class, you forfeit your class fees.
Customer Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration in a class within 3 days of the class to receive store credit. If you cancel your registration 3 days or less, you forfeit your class fees.
